About Neil:

Neil Eyre sole owner and artist of Eyre Designs grew up in Rotherham, a small industrial town in South Yorkshire, England. From a young age he loved to create things with his hands, and spent many a days drawing comics or woodworking in the family shed. As a teenager, he began to experiment with oil on canvas. His impressive landscape paintings assured him entrance into the art department of the University at Wolverhaptom, where he majored in product design.

His first taste of professional success arrived during his university years, when Rosenthal China selected his cutlery design as part of their tabletop offerings. For his senior thesis, he designed an electronic helmet that allowed police who rode mountain bikes not to have to reach for their radios as well as completely re-styling cycling helmet these same style helmets are now used all over the world today. The design earned him First Class honors.

Neil's love of woodworking, landscape painting and product design has
continued into adulthood, but sculpting is his favorite mode of expression. His hobbies range from studying foreign languages to collecting books. Now married to his wife Bernadette they reside on Long Island with their Yorkshire Terrier, Lexi, rescue Collie mix Sandy, and a bunch of rescued kitty Cats who provide Neil with amusement and a broad range of subject matter.

As an Independent guest artist for Harmony Kingdom Neil enjoyed creating Pond Friends Box which was inspired by the pond just adjacent to their home,  first released as a Japanese style Inro through his company Eyre Designs many enjoyed the Pond Friends theme either as a Box through HK or Inro through Neil directly and it earned him a repeat performance at HK with Lunar Mansion. His love for astrology was the inspiration for his Lunar Mansion and his love of Nature brought his release of Forbidden Fruit to life. Each release sold out very quickly through HK and Neil looks forward to his next venture at Harmony Kingdom.

I now hope to start doing personal portraits again in either Oil or Acrylic paintings. I also reproduce portraits in black and white. My most recent being Bernadette's parents wedding picture from over 50 years ago. Currently the waiting time for personalized portraits or paintings is 8-12 weeks.

One of my favorite paintings is Benidorm (shown left), the combinations of colors make it both calming and relaxing to look at.

In the meantime Neil and Bern have their hands full with Eyre Designs after all his creations are based on Editions of 50 or less in which he models, molds, hand casts and hand finishes all of his own pieces.

We hope you enjoy our website and if there is anything we can help you with please let us know.
